Norhan Khaled… When a Voice Rises from the Heart of Science to Create a Collective Dream That Knows No Coincidence

Cairo – Mostafa Al-Masry:

At a time when the artistic scene is crowded with similar voices, and success is often measured by view counts rather than the depth of experience, certain young models emerge to remind us that true art does not appear overnight, nor is it created by a stroke of luck. Rather, it is shaped through a long journey of passion, discipline, and collective effort. Within this context, the experience of young talent Norhan Khaled stands out as a voice that did not seek the spotlight as much as it allowed the spotlight to come to her.

Norhan belongs to a generation well aware of the difficulty of balance—a generation immersed in precise sciences within laboratories and lecture halls, yet unwilling to abandon its dreams or compromise talent. Between studying Biotechnology and standing on stage as a member of the “On” Choir, an artistic and human character was formed, one that firmly believes success is never individual, and that a true voice only rises when it harmonizes with others within a conscious collective framework.

Norhan’s appearance with the “On” Choir on major television programs such as Sahebet El Saada was not a passing media moment, but rather an acknowledgment of a quietly accumulated experience—one that began with school radio activities, passed through various formative stages, and ultimately reached a wide public platform. In this in-depth interview, we explore her personal journey, her relationship with art, with the choir, and with the maestro who formed the cornerstone of every step of success.

–Who is Norhan Khaled away from the spotlight?

I am Norhan Khaled, 20 years old, currently in my third year at the Faculty of Biotechnology in Cairo. I come from a simple and very supportive family, which played a major role in helping me continue and develop without fear.Tell us more about your family.I have an older sister, Nada Khaled, a graduate of the Faculty of Science, who works at Dopamine Laboratories.

She is ambitious and hardworking and has always been a strong source of support for me. I also have a younger brother, Mohamed, who is in the third year of preparatory school and is 14 years old. Overall, my family environment is encouraging and respects any sincere effort or genuine dream.

Despite your scientific background, you gravitated toward art and singing early on. How did it begin?

I have loved singing since early childhood, starting in primary school.

The school played an important role, especially through artistic activities and the school radio. Art was also naturally present at home—my mother used to sing during her university years, as did my aunt, and my sister sings as well—so it all felt very natural to me.

Did your talent continue through different educational stages?

Yes. I participated in school concerts during primary, preparatory, and secondary stages, and I entered inter-school competitions, achieving first-place rankings. These experiences made a real difference and pushed me to take singing more seriously.

When did you join the “On” Choir?

In my first year at university, I was looking for something to balance the academic pressure. By coincidence, I learned about the “On” Choir through a friend. When I discussed it with my mother, she strongly encouraged me. I applied, was accepted, and from that moment a completely new chapter began.

At first, was singing merely a hobby?

Yes, initially it was simply a way to unwind. Studying a scientific major involves intense pressure, so singing was my emotional outlet. Over time, with commitment and rehearsals, it became much more than a hobby. When did the experience begin to feel professional? After our media appearances with the choir, especially on major programs, I felt that what we were doing had real impact and weight, and that we carried a greater responsibility toward ourselves and the audience.

What did appearing on Sahebet El Saada represent for you?

It was an exceptional experience. Although we had appeared on other programs before, Sahebet El Saada was different in every way—organization, atmosphere, and professional treatment. Ms. Essad Younes was extremely supportive and professional, which left a lasting impression on all of us.

Where has the “On” Choir appeared recently?

We appeared with Mona El-Shazly in September 2024, and more recently with Sherif Amer, in addition to numerous concerts across different governorates and participations with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in summer events. Thankfully, the activity is continuous and the reach keeps expanding.

How are matters managed within the choir?

Unfortunately, anything related to the choir itself or any official data goes exclusively through the maestro. He oversees all organization and details.

How would you describe the maestro’s role in your journey?

The maestro is the reason behind every step of success I have achieved.

He is my true supporter—not only artistically, but also on a personal and human level, and in how to deal with people. His presence has made a profound difference for all of us, teaching us the true meaning of commitment, respect, and genuine teamwork.

How would you describe the spirit within the “On” Choir?

We are truly a family. There is no selfishness and no individual at the expense of the group. Everyone works for the sake of the final image, and that is the real secret behind sustained success.

Within this collective framework, how do you maintain your presence?

Through commitment. Commitment is what creates value and earns respect. A true mark is not made through solo moments, but through consistency and seriousness.
