I am honored to have won the Mohamed Eissa El-Sharkawy Award for Foreign Coverage in the Egyptian Press Excellence Awards from the Journalists’ Syndicate, for my series covering the war in Sudan.

It was an extremely arduous journey under extraordinary circumstances—a long path in every detail of that coverage, which drained my heart and soul as I engaged with it with all my being. Yet, the grace of Allah is greater. I sincerely wish for peace and stability to prevail in Sudan, for it is a courageous and patient nation that truly deserves to live in safety, peace, and reassurance.”
