Cairo – Maii Abdo:
For over a century, Shahin Feseekh has stood as one of Egypt’s most iconic culinary institutions.
Founded in 1910 by Abdel Nabi Shahin and later established in Bab El-Louk in 1950 by his son Mohamed, the shop transformed from a small family venture into a celebrated national brand.
Known as “the feseekh of celebrities”, Shahin introduced innovations such as grey mullet for feseekh and mullet roe, attracting figures of Egypt’s golden era including Fouad El-Mohandes and Abdel Halim Hafez.
The family legacy is today carried by the third generation, led by Shady Shahin, who continues to uphold the values of authenticity and quality.
Despite global health concerns surrounding feseekh, Shahin remains a trusted name, emphasizing strict preparation standards and safety measures.
With only two official branches—Bab El-Louk and Sayeda Zeinab—the brand is committed to preserving its heritage while planning future expansion into larger seafood ventures and potential international outlets.
From generation to generation, Shahin Feseekh is more than a shop—it is a cultural institution, deeply rooted in Egypt’s traditions, festivals, and collective memory.
