Researcher Sayed Mohamed Abu El-Yazid Earns Master’s Degree with a Distinguished Thesis on U.S.–China Rivalry and Its Implications for Egyptian National Security

Researcher Sayed Mohamed Abu El-Yazid has successfully earned a Master’s degree in Political Studies from the Military Academy for Postgraduate and Strategic Studies, in collaboration with the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University, for his thesis entitled:“The Impact of U.S.–China Rivalry in the Red Sea on Egyptian National Security Since 2011.”
The thesis was supervised by Dr. Mona Hani, Professor of Political Science and Economics at Cairo University, who praised the researcher’s analytical rigor and academic excellence, emphasizing that the study provides a valuable and timely contribution to Egypt’s body of strategic research.
The examination and defense committee was composed of:
Major General Dr. Hesham El-Samahi, Advisor to the Military Academy for Postgraduate and Strategic Studies – Committee Chair.
Dr. Sama Suleiman, Deputy Chair of the Foreign, Arab, and African Affairs Committee at the Egyptian Senate – Member.
Prof. Dr. Iman Nour El-Din, Professor of Political Science at Suez University – Member.
The defense session was held at the Military Academy for Postgraduate and Strategic Studies, in the presence of faculty members, colleagues, and family members, in an atmosphere filled with pride and academic appreciation.
In his study, Abu El-Yazid provides an in-depth assessment of the evolving U.S.–China competition in the Red Sea, shedding light on its geopolitical implications and the shifting balance of power within the region.
The research offers a strategic framework for understanding Egypt’s national security priorities and the country’s role in maintaining regional stability amid intensifying global rivalries.
The thesis concludes with a series of key findings and policy-oriented recommendations that enhance the understanding of Egypt’s security environment and reaffirm its pivotal position as a regional stabilizing power in the Red Sea and beyond.
